Pulmonary Function Tests are a painless way to
measure how well your lungs are working. A
complete series has three tests. You may be
given the entire series or only certain parts.
Testing may last up to an hour. The results can
explain.
Shortness of breath
The type of lung problem
How smoking has affected the lungs
Whether breathing problems are a risk during general anesthesia
Testing can show:
- The amount of air you inhale
- The amount of air you exhale
- The amount of air you have left in
your lungs after exhaling
