Osteoporosis is a disorder where the bones are slowly weakened by the loss of minerals. It afflicts 25 million Americans and every year results in more than one million hip and wrist fractures.
Advances in technology now make it possible to assess the risk for osteoporosis at a much earlier stage, when our patients are more likely to respond to treatment and slow down further bone loss.
CMG Imaging Center Uses an X-Ray technique to measure Bone Mineral Density (BMD). BMD works like a snapshot, showing a picture of bone to confirm or deny the suspicion of osteoporosis or predict the risk of fracture.
These tests are painless and take less than 15 minutes. There is no special preparation involved, and street clothes without metal buttons or buckles can be worn.
