Patient with work injuries are evaluated and seamlessly processed through the steps necessary to return them to work. Whether they require further evaluation by a physiatrist, orthopedic surgeon, pain management physician or need to begin physical therapy or Work Hardening, we provide it all.
Work hardening consists of evaluation by a physical therapist followed
by participation in a program including exercises to promote
strengthening, flexibility, proper body mechanics, and work simulated
tasks, Patients are progressed according to their tolerance, and they
typically attend work hardening daily progressing from 1-2 hours
initially up to 4 hours toward the end of work hardening. If ordered by
their physician, patients may undergo a Functional Capacity Evaluation
(FCE) which is a 3-4 hour intensive standardized test of lifting, pushing,
pulling, carrying, stair climbing, reaching, kneeling, and other
work-related functions. This will assist the physician in determining the
patient’s capacity for return to work and any restrictions which should
be enforced. |
